I am using Grand Circle Travel for my trip to Egypt (will be gone end of Dec 06 to Jan 07) - the Ancient Egypt and the Nile tour. They include everything incl. airfare (and the price already includes the air fuel surcharge - some don't and tack it on at the end as an extra fee) .
You can look up exactly how much it will cost flying out of your home city (mine is Dallas). They way it works is everyone flies into NYC and then the group meets there for the flight over to Cairo. I liked that I will be flying w/ my tourmates so I can get to know them.
Most trips have everyone straggling into Cairo at their own pace and you have to worry about getting from the airport to the tour hotel to meet up. This way, you are all together and all are taken to the hotel from the airport.
There are cool side trip options that you pay for once you get there, but they are not that expensive at all for what you get. There are also 'discovery highlights' for each tour. With mine we get a home hosted dinner in Cairo w/ a local family.
The hotels you stay in are mostly names you will recognize (Marriot, Hilton) and they own their own ships for the Nile part of the tour.
I am excited about my trip. The customer service is very accomodating. They sent me a customized travel handbook for my trip w/ my trip itenerary, what to pack, what to expect, culture differences, info about my destination, etc. It was helpful!
www.gct.com is the website. They have tours all over the world. If I like them as much after my trip as I do now, I will definately use them again!
yes you can always fly to cairo and from there to hurghada either by car or flight if there is one. but are you sure there is no ferry it used to be daily.
EDIT
just checked on the egypt air web site if you put in the choice of flight to cairo its about 350 EP and leaves at 0035 and a flight from cairo to hurghada at 0630 for 320EP its an expensive way to do it and a pain but if you got to be there, sure an egypt air office can help you
Road : Bus.

what kind of advice you need?
the kitten will be in the cargo container while flying, and it will live.
I am very disappointed to see what some of the other people have written here, some of them have been rather extreme in their comments.
You will find that English is spoken in most places, except if you go off the beaten track. If you'd like to, it would be well received if you leant some small phrases in Egyptian.
Some of the musts to see are =
The Pyramids, the Egyptian Museum, the Valley of the Kings, Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, Hatchepsut's Temple, Philea Temples, the Aswan Dam, Abu Simbel (depending on where you are going).
I dont know how you are travelling or what parts of Egypt you are going to, but some simple rules are =
Be confident, be careful of your belongings, drink plenty of water (bottled only), use sunscreen, wear a hat. I would also avoid the nightclubs, as you would attract the wrong kind of attention. I have worn a wedding ring in the past it does help some, but a woman travelling alone will always have hassle. Just be polite confident you'll be ok.
Truthfully, i never felt safer than when i was living in Egypt, i mean i wouldnt walk in the street at night in London alone, but in Luxor, apart from odd hassling, i was always safe. If you do have a problem, go to the ladies, they will stand by you scare off the hassler.
As for the Boys, be very careful, some of them are just so cute dam good actors, the clubs pubs in Luxor are full of them.
BUT there are really nice honest people in Egypt, just some who give it a bad name, as in all countries.
If you want any more info, do email me.
I hope you enjoy your holiday, i loved it when i went, i made some good friends along the way.
They are just like us they go to college they drive gasoline cars of course they are like us they are humans.
exchange rate ...for 1 US dollar you will get 5.3 Le (Egyptian Pounds)
you should know that many people will try to raise the prices for stuff because they will see you are American...Here are some standard prices
Can of soda/pop = 2 Le
Glass bottle of Soda = 1 Le
2 Medium Supreme Pizzas at Pizza King = 25 Le
Bag of Chips = about 2 Le
Souvenir Shirt = maybe 30 Le...but try to talk the man as low as you can..and the price will still be higher than what any egyptian local pays
Keep some 1 Le bills in one pocket and the rest of the money in your other pocket...sometimes you will give someone a Baksheesh (Tip) and it would be just 1 or 2 Le and you don't want them to see your whole wad of cash...
Find out if your group will eat at the hotel or out at McDonald's or something....Because the Hotel will be lots more and you would need to budget for that...as the other people have answered.
If you eat from the normal restaurants 3 meals a day you should plan on about 75 Le per day
Its hard to say what you will spend on Souveniers because I don't know what you'd like and how much shopping you will do.

Living in egypt?
10,000 is a good salary for someone with 0-5 years of experience. But from a standard of living perspective, 10,000 is more on the ok side, it is not a poor salary nor a good one.
Expect to rent an apartment for around L.E2000-3000, which leaves u with around L.E7,000 for your household expenses, which is ok. U will be able to go out and have some fun, but u wont be able to buy a car for example. That salary is fine for a married couple, but not if u intend on having kids. In other words, u wont be saving much.

Egypt Qustions?
The papyrus plant was used to make a from of paper.
This revolutionised the ability to record the written word,as prior to this there was only parchment made of animal hide and clay tablets.
The Nile river flows Northwards,so to go South was to go against the current of the river.
They overcame this by using the North winds coming from the Mediterranean Sea to their maximum advantage and by the use of oarsmen.
Every year the ancient Egyptians relied on the inundation or annual flooding to irrigate and fertilise their crops.
The inundation also brought with it a few centimetres of mineral and nutrient rich loam, that the ancient Egyptians referred to as Kemit.
It was so valuable to them that they called themselves the people of Kemit or the black land.
But if the floods were too heavy it would bring disaster though loss of life and the destruction of homes and property.
If the inundation did not rise high enough the agrarian culture was at risk of failure and the whole societies structure would be effected by drought and famine.
It is only since the construction of the Aswan Dam and Lake Nasser that the Egyptian farmers have found fertilisers necessary
There are several desert areas in Egypt, except for the close ribbon of arable land along the Nile and the Delta region the whole country is desert.
The Eastern desert,The Western Desert. The White desert and the Red Desert, all loosely come under the rather generic title of The Sahara which refers to the desert regions that stretch right across the African continent.
I just got back from Egypt last thursday...i'm Indonesia btw... ^^ i spent 4 days there...and don't think it was enough...i went to cairo, luxor, and alexandria...if u want to see all the other great cities maybe 1 week is enough...i think.... _ definitely go with a tour package...cause people said that the scam there is really bad...so its much better if u go with a credible tour with a group...about estimated cost i don't really know, cause i went to saudi arabia too......maybe $2000 dollars per head...but thats with 5star hotels and full meals....so just check with the tour packages....have fun! ^^
I guess it should be a standard USB cable... you can get it from any computer shop or Mall... if You are in Cairo they are quite everywhere... in Nasr city near al Serag Mall... in El Khalifa El mamoun. In Mohamdessein... it shouldn't be a problem.
With some luck you could even use any USB cable that you already have with any other device.
It's the same story as the lost city of Atlantis. But all the stories in the Bible teach about having good morals, so in the Bible version, God brought on the flood because there were a lot of sinful people, so if you are sinful, God will strike you down. Probable Noah's Arc and Atlantis is from when the land mass separating the Mediterranean and the Black sea collapsed, flooding all the villages in the Black sea region. Archaeologist have found evidence of villages under the Black sea, showing the water level use to be much lower, pretty well explains Noah's Arc, Atlantis, and the Koran's flood story.
You've mucked up the punchline. It's 'His triumph was heard throughout the land', {can't remember book, chapter or verse unfortunately.}
