depends on where you live supposed to be 90+ degrees here
The celebrations are fantastic, in Disney they have Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Celebration, in universal studios and island of adventure, they have The grinchmas, located in islands of adventure that's based on the grinch that stole christmas, the hotels are adorned beautifully with Christmas trees and they (at least the ones in universal) have events that take place around the christmas tree including festive music. For new years there are tons of fireworks and parties all night in downtown disney and city walk. the weather can differ but usually its very cold, i mean for florida that is. it ranges between 50-70 degrees fareheit.
YES, warm weather does make it difficult to climb an aeroplane. It is due to a higher DENSITY ALTITUDE. This is the altitude the aeroplane 'thinks' it is at. The warmer the air, the less it's density, as has been mentioned, and so the aeroplane will perform as though it is flying at a higher altitude. This goes for all aircraft, although as your question suggests, it has a more noticable effect on light aircraft. As for flying in cold air, it is not neccessarily easier, but one will get better performance from the aircraft. This is the reason most heavy lift cargo airliners fly at night, ask any freight pilot about their hours of work:) Night time generally has a lower DENSITY ALTITUDE. There is a formula to work out the density altitude if you would like to know it...
What you will look for are clues as to what is going on and experience from the area you are forecasting. Here are some clues that may help you make an educated guess as to what may be occurring. 1. Temperature. If it is higher than normal...you are more likely to be under a high pressure ridge. If it is lower than normal...you are more likely be under a low pressure trough. 2. Barometric Pressure will tell you pressure changes. U:nder a normal day, gradual pressure measurements will rise and fall normally even when there is no significant changes in the weather. What is important is when you detect faster or slower change in daily pressure. The greater rate in change with time, the better chance you will experience a change in weather. For example: if the pressure suddenly changes rapidly on day three and it is falling, expect weather to change and become more unstable on day 4. 3. Wind speed has almost a direct relationship with pressure gradient (the higher the pressure gradient...the more difference in surface pressure you will experience with a given distance). This will indicate that things maybe becomeing more unstable. Also, knowing the fact that wind blows from areas of higher pressure to lower pressure would give you a clue as to how the pressure fields are positioned in your surrounding areas. 4. Cloud type, level, and amount per time will give you important information on moisture available and the stability of the air mass above you. If clouds are there during the day and they are low to medium level clouds, then the airmass is somewhat unstable in the afternoon and evening and that some low level moisture is available. If precipitation forms, it will likely be in a showery format. If the cloud completely fills the sky and the bases of the clouds are low to mid level, if precipitation forms, it will tend to be a steady type of rain that can occur for long periods of time. If they are just high clouds, it may be fair weather. If the high clouds are invading the sky, this may indicate a system coming in soon. If low and/or middle level clouds are present, then there is a possiblility that there is enough moisture available for precipitation to form is the air mass becpmes unstable enough with time.. These are some clues that can tell you what may be going on around you. There are much more clues to look for that I did not list above. By looking at the changes that had occurred over a 3 day period, and using the combination of clues you are getting from the weather observations, you can make an educated guess that will likely be more accurate then a random guess. The important thing is that the guess you will make must be made using all the available data and that the changes you are forecasting will match the changes you are seeing with the three days worth of data. Most of this clues I have learned comes comes from many years of experience so it would be tough to teach with one writing on Yahoo Answers. Good luck!
Unless you go into the mountains, it is unlikely that you will see snow. On a cold night it may well be below freezing, during the day it will be up to about 10 degrees, which will still feel very cold to you. Best bring layers. For trousers, jeans or alike with underneath an extra layer or two. A friend advices people from your part of the world to bring silk pajamas, you can wear up to five of them before it shows, she claims. If you do not go for silk, still bring something you can wear under your jeans, leggings, thin training trousers, sports thights, maybe even long underwear if you can get it. Same layer principle for your top half, T-shirt, shirt with long sleeves, sweater and a fleece jacket, and over all of it, a rain and wind proof jacket. If you can not get a fleece jacket at home, shop as soon as you arrive, Czech republic will have some for sale that time of the year, or invest in a winter coat. Be careful about the prices, a decent wintercoat can cost you as much as a week in the country. If you have mountain boots, bring them, otherwise, bring the shoes which are pretty good waterproof. And bring plenty socks. (If you get wet feet in the cold, change your socks and you will feel a bit less cold.) If you want to experience snow, ask when in Czech republic where to go to find it, it might even be that you will have to leave the country, as the mountains in Czech republic are not the highest. Prague is well known, but much more in Czech republic is worth visiting. If you have never been in an European county, you should also visit a village or maybe an open air museum. I have used the Lonely Planet Czech and Slovak republics edition, but due to other plans did not have much time in Czech republic. I do approve of the guide though. But there are other guidebooks too. About food? I think you should just walk past the restaurants, reading the menus, till you find one that attract you. I liked the traditional Czech cuisine, but there is a wider choice. All main cuisines in Europe are to be found in Prague, the smaller towns will have some choice but maybe not as much. Many places, specially in the bigger towns, have a menu in English, but if you can, bring a language guide with a list of popular foods, as not all places can help you in English. Czech republic is a fairly safe country, but as a tourist you need always to be aware of possible dangers. There is a real risk of pick pockets, as everywhere in the world, so keep your passport, a credit or bank card, your tickets and some money in a pouch under your clothes, I think the kind that fits like a belt in the top of your jeans is the best. And for the rest, behave as you would in a big town near home: If you do not trust a person or a place, go an other way. Do not go into the park or the small alleys at night. Do not go home with people/men you have just met. And if you like drinking, do not get drunk unless you know you can trust the people you are with. (If you want to ask more, I have my e-mail option open.)
Most weather has limited or no impact. However, fog or haze reduce visibility, slowing things down. Really cold weather freezes the water. That really slows things down! Wind is usually OK, but during a big storm, things slow down. Often, boats go for moorings before a big storm. Ships and crew not really affected by anything less than really cold causing ice. Up north, winter prevents much boat traffic, so major effect there. Snowfall, humidity, rain have little effect, though big rains can cause flood waters that interfere with traffic.
The tilt of the earth about it's axis (which is about 23 degrees), earth's position in space (orbit around the sun), and the distance sun rays travel to reach the surface, all influence climate (i.e. seasons) During winter months (above the equator), the earth's tilt relative to the sun causes the sun's energy to travel further to reach the earth's surface. Latitudes above the equator are furthest away from the sun) During summer months, the opposite is true, higher latitudes are tilted closer to the sun.. and lower latitudes (below the equator) experience the opposite. That's why it is cold (Fall/Winter) in the upper lattitudes now (fall)...and the lower lattitudes are going into Spring then Summer. I could get more complicated but this is a plain as I could do it. Some will argue that distance from the sun doesn't affect temperature, but I think it does.
I live in adelaide and lately it's been pretty cold and cloudy the occassional rain or so, i usually wear jeans, sneakers and a warm but not really thick jumper,if you don't have to come within the next month or so i would suggest waiting till around september october because the weather starts to improve around that time.Good luck to you and i hope you enjoy your stay =)
Most towns have dikes built along the banks. At normal flow, the river level will be many feet lower than the top of them. At flood level, the river has risen just to the top. At 20 feet over, water will flood over them and continue to flow into the towns until the level spreads itself out.
Well I don't know how Paris is during that time but I definitely know Rome because I go every year around the 12th of December. It is damp and cold but can actually get up into the high 50s low 60s so dress in layers. It is not COLD COLD COLD like the other person said. It can be cold but when the sun is out and with all the people you will definitely want to shed some layers so I usually bring a good size bag that I can stuff with a hat and scarf and then dress in layers then when I take it off it can be put in my bag. You will be fine!!!
COLD Harrahs Ballys and the Tropicana are all good but book EARLY
If you are having window tinting done by a professional shop than the outside temps have no effect on the window film. It may take a day longer to dry but it hardly makes sense to wait until the Spring. The Sun angle is lower in the sky and the glare is potentially worse now than during the Spring or Summer. From past years it does look like it starts to get dramatically cooler in October. As far as rain though it looks to be a little drier then other months. If you go to this link http://www.idcide.com/weather/md/california.htm and scroll all the way down to were it says Normal Climate then you can see a graph of high, low and average temp for each month of the year and average rainfall for each month of the year.
latitude, and climate respect no borders, so expect very much the same weather than San Diego at that time of the year, it will be cool, but not frozen cold.
umm you will be lucky if it even gets down to 60 degress it still very humid and hot.
Yes, it will still be warm. And, don't forget it's still hurricane season. best of luck to you!
See my answer to this question as it deals with London in winter generally. http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AtYJu9vh8_hxq8g16s5zojpK5wt.?qid=20060926163707AAzLhLD As I mention in that response, most places in central London will be open in winter (especially since by Feb you will be past the Christmas/New Year shut down) but you will experience more problems if you want to venture further out (eg if you want to do a day trip to somewhere like Bath or Brighton). Here is a website which gives you average temperatures for London in Feb. http://uk.weather.com/weather/climatology/UKXX0085?dayofyear=32
Unfortuanly, any state in America is proned to severe flooding espeically if you live on the Gulf Coast of Eastern Seaboard where tropical weather systems occur. The Carolinas are notorious for hurricanes, and hurricanes usually spawn tornados. Most of the Carolinas dont suffer greatly from hurricanes, its mostly an issue with 50 miles or so from the coast. Other than hurricanes, the Carolinas are a great place to live as far as weather is concerned. They have cool winters, occasoinally a snowstorm or two and ice during a normal winter. Same is true for Georgia too. Spring time in these areas arrives early compared to most other states in the US. By March 60s and 70s are common. Summers are very warm and very humid. If you dont like humidity, dont move to the Southeast. The Carolinas and Gerogia are under a maratime tropical airmass for most of the year, which means the air has a high moisture content. Humidity starts becoming a factor in this region around May and can get very uncomfortable in June, July, August, and even September. The chance for tornados in GA and Carolinas are relativly low compared to the Plain States such as Kansas, Oklamhoma, and Nebreska to mention a few. Bottom line for this region is that it could get cold and snow could happen, but its not the unbearable cold you get up North and winter is alot shorter in duration as far as temperature are concerned. For more info, you can go to www.weather.com www.unisys.com www.noaa.gov Be sure to look for average High and Low Temperature Table and Precipiation tables for each month before moving to an area.
Tahoe and Mammoth are great in December. The question will be how is the snow. Mammoth usually has better snow in December but is cooler than Tahoe. Mammoth is easy to get to from LA, about 5 hr drive, long but a great one. Tahoe's weather is better during the day but both will be chilly at night. The Marriott resort in South Lake Tahoe is great and right at the Gondola to Heavenly. Heavenly is a fun resort. Sierra at Tahoe is a smaller place that a lot of locals use. If the weather is severe in Tahoe, Sierra will have better conditions.
Compared to Charlotte or Austin in summer, San Diego is hardly humid. For a runner, it probably offers the best year-round climate if you live reasonably close to the ocean. Inland areas of San Diego County can get really hot in summer. Not as hot as Phoenix in August, however, and certainly not as cold as Albuquerque can be in January.
